Summer is here! It’s time for children with kidney disease to relax, have fun and enjoy camp. Summer camp is a great opportunity for children to participate in new and exciting experiences. Camp activities help children with kidney disease develop self-esteem and gain independence, while meeting others who share their unique life challenges. Children with kidney disease have special needs that cannot be met at all camps. It is important to understand your child’s needs and be equipped with information to choose an appropriate camp. Take time to ask questions, such as “Is there medical staff readily available?” “What activities are available?” These simple questions will help you decide the best camp for your child.
