TAMPA, Fla., April 10, 2007 - The American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP) calls for nominations for its 2007-2008 National Board of Directors. AAKP is a national nonprofit kidney organization directed by patients for patients focused on giving patients the tools necessary to be the leader of their healthcare team. The elections will be held in July with members seated in September during AAKP’s 2007 Annual Convention in St. Louis. Board members will serve two-year terms. Nominations must be submitted by May 28.

The AAKP National Board of Directors is responsible for establishing goals and policies for the Association. In addition, they are responsible for attending three meetings per year, which requires travel, participation in conference calls and committee membership.

In keeping with the bylaws of the Association, more than 50 percent of the AAKP National Board of Directors must be comprised of kidney disease patients including chronic kidney disease, dialysis patients and transplant recipients. The president must also be a patient.
