AAKP Seeks Nominations for 2006 Annual Awards

Tampa, Fla. June 22, 2006– The American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP) is currently seeking nominations for its Annual Awards:

AAKP Spirit of Service Award                      AAKP Visionary Award

Samuel J. Orenstein Award                          Josephine Berman Award

Peter Lundin, MD Award                              Maureen Lundin aakpRENALIFE Award

Dominick Gentile, MD Memorial Award    

The awards will be presented at the 33rd Annual Convention to be held Aug. 31- Sept. 3 at the Renaissance Resort at SeaWorld® in Orlando, Florida. Recipients will be honored in front of hundreds of fellow patients and healthcare professionals. The Annual Convention is the largest convention dedicated to kidney patients and their family members.

Anyone who is an active member in the renal community is eligible for these awards.

The Samuel J. Orenstein Award is AAKP most prestigious Annual Award. It is presented to an AAKP member who consistently renders extraordinary service toward the achievement of AAKP’s goals and objectives. The award was given to AAKP out-going President Brenda Dyson last year. She has dedicated more than a decade of service to improving the quality of patient care.

Nominations must be submitted to the AAKP National Office by Friday, July 7, 2006.

AAKP is the voluntary, patient organization, which for more than 35 years, has been dedicated to improving the lives of fellow kidney patients and their families by helping them deal with the physical, emotional and social impact of kidney disease. The programs offered by AAKP inform and inspire patients and their families to better understand their condition, adjust more readily to their circumstances, and assume more normal, productive lives in their communities.
