Tampa-Fla.,October 25, 2006 --The American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP) is pleased to announce Stephen Fadem, MD, FACP, and Thomas Peters, MD, FACS, FASN, as the new Medical Editors of aakpRENALIFE and Kidney Beginnings: The Magazine. Dr. Fadem is also the Medical Editor for the AAKP Web site, www.aakp.org. In their new roles, both physicians will lend their medical and scientific expertise to articles written by AAKP contributors. Dr. Fadem and Dr. Peters will ensure all reports provide valid information in a form that is readily accessible to kidney patients. Dr. Fadem is a board certified nephrologist and a chronic kidney disease (CKD) patient from Houston, TX. He is a member of the AAKP Medical Advisory Board and is the Vice President of the AAKP Board of Directors. Dr. Fadem is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and did his internal medicine residency at the University of Texas and MD Anderson Hospital in Houston. He is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Peters is a member of the AAKP Board of Directors and AAKP Medical Advisory Board. He also serves as the Professor of Surgery and Chief of Transplant at the University of Florida and Shands in Jacksonville, Fla. Dr. Peters has served on committees for UNOS, the American Society of Transplantation, the American Society of Transplant Surgeons and the ESRD Network of Florida. “We are excited to have these distinguished men serving AAKP in this important role.
