TAMPA, Fla. March 7, 2006 -- The American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP) is currently accepting nominations for its 2006-2007 National Board of Directors. The elections will be held in July with members seated in September during AAKP’s 2006 Convention in Orlando. Board members will serve two-year terms. Nominations must be submitted by May 26. The AAKP National Board of Directors is responsible for establishing goals and policies for the Association. In addition, they are responsible for attending three meetings per year, which requires travel, participation in conference calls and committee membership. In keeping with the bylaws of the Association, more than 50 percent of the AAKP National Board of Directors must be comprised of kidney disease patients, and the president must also be a patient. In addition, nominees must be paid-to-date members of the Association. For more information or to request a nomination form, please contact AAKP’s National Office at (800) 749-2257 or click here. AAKP is the voluntary, patient organization, which for more than 35 years, has been dedicated to improving the lives of fellow kidney patients and their families by helping them deal with the physical, emotional and social impact of kidney disease. The programs offered by AAKP inform and inspire patients and their families to better understand their condition, adjust more readily to their circumstances and assume more normal, productive lives in their communities.
