Hemodialysis Brochure Now Available in Spanish on the AAKP Web Site

TAMPA, Fla. May 17, 2005 -- The American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP) now offers a Spanish version of its brochure, Understanding Your Hemodialysis Options, on its Web site. Download the brochure in its entirety by clicking here.

This 16-page brochure provides a description of hemodialysis, as well as an in-depth explanation of types of hemodialysis treatments, including conventional, short daily and nocturnal. Readers can learn about home and in-center treatment for each option. This brochure offers a detailed explanation of the various physical, emotional and social aspects associated with each treatment. In addition, it includes the benefits and drawbacks for the various treatment options.

Hemodialysis is a medical procedure designed to remove wastes, toxins and fluids from the blood when the kidneys have failed. It is the most common treatment for end-stage renal disease (ESRD), more commonly known as kidney failure.
