AAKP Partners With Aksys, Ltd. to Offer Hemodialysis Options Seminars

TAMPA, Fla. August 2, 2004 The American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP) has partnered with Aksys, Ltd. to offer seminars for dialysis, chronic kidney disease (CKD) and transplant patients.

The national program, titled “Understanding Your Hemodialysis Options,” offers an overview of hemodialysis and provides patients with the knowledge to choose a hemodialysis treatment that works best for their specific needs. The seminars will educate patients on the different types of hemodialysis such as conventional, nocturnal and short daily. In addition, the program discusses home and in-center treatment availability for each option.

“AAKP is pleased to partner with Aksys, Ltd. to offer educational programs about hemodialysis options. In continuing with our belief that patients deserve quality health outcomes, it is imperative that patients know what therapies are available, how they impact their health and what to look for to ensure quality of care,” said Kris Robinson, executive director of AAKP.

Beginning in September, the “Understanding Your Hemodialysis Options” seminars will be held in the following locations: Tampa, Fla.; Southern California; South Florida and New York/New Jersey. For complete details on the upcoming programs, please contact the AAKP National Office at (800) 749-2257 or click here.

AAKP is the voluntary, patient organization, which for 35 years, has been dedicated to improving the lives of fellow kidney patients and their families by helping them deal with the physical, emotional and social impact of kidney disease. The programs offered by AAKP inform and inspire patients and their families to better understand their condition, adjust more readily to their circumstances and assume more normal, productive lives in their communities.
