Red Grapes Contain Antioxidant Benefits

A dietary supplement of red grape juice may reduce the activity of an enzyme linked to cardiovascular disease in hemodialysis patients. A study looked at the grape juice supplement's effects in the white blood cells, which can lead to the increase of oxidative stress.

During the study of hemodialysis patients, researchers discovered the red grape juice supplement was associated with lower blood levels of total cholesterol and apolipoprotein B (apoB), which is responsible for the transport of cholesterol to tissues. The red grape juice also increased HDL cholesterol levels.
