Sugary Sodas Linked to Kidney Disease

Results from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey found drinking sugary soda is linked to kidney disease, most likely due to the high fructose corn syrup in these sweetened drinks.

People who drink two or more soda drinks per day increase their risk of kidney damage, which could lead to kidney disease. The strongest risk was associated with underweight women and drinking non-cola sodas. No association was found with men, with diet soda or with one serving of sugary soda per day.
