A study published in the Oxford Journals aimed to determine the most effective way to control high blood pressure, or hypertension: the use of anti-hypertensive drugs or dietary salt restriction. Researchers examined two groups of dialysis patients; one was given anti-hypertensive medications and the other group managed hypertension by strict salt restriction.
The results of the study found salt restriction and a reduced prescription of anti-hypertensive medications was the optimal treatment method to reduce major cardiovascular events.
