Wearable Kidney May Replace Dialysis Machine

A new Wearable Artificial Kidney has been successful in preliminary tests.  The device is worn as a belt and weighs about ten pounds.  Patients are able to undergo dialysis throughout the day while still going about their normal activities.

Researchers believe the device will reduce the mortality rate and improve the quality of life for dialysis patients.  Further studies are being done to determine the long-term effects of the device.
