Dialysis Centers May Go Green By Recycling Water

A new report shows water used in hemodialysis centers can be safely recycled for agricultural purposes, which would save dialysis centers money and help drought-stricken areas.

Researchers believe recycling water used to prepare dialysate, and rinse and reprocess dialysis membranes and machines, is cost-effective and feasible. The only problem with recycling this water so far, is its high salt content.

Researchers are still looking at innovative ways to re-use water from dialysis units and testing their results.
