A tiny implanted pump developed by Nephera, Ltd. could delay the need for dialysis or a kidney transplant in end-stage renal disease patients. It could also greatly improve the quality of life for patients already on dialysis by speeding up the removal of waste and fluid.
The pump turbo charges the kidneys which increases the kidneys' capacity to filter blood. This experimental device is still being tested in several studies.
