AAKP recently teamed up with NBA-All Star Alonzo Mourning and Shape Up New York™ for a successful youth basketball clinic and kidney disease education clinic. The event was held at the Jackie Robinson Community Center in East Harlem, N.Y., and attracted local youths and their families. Mourning who received a kidney transplant in 2003 after being diagnosed with kidney disease, shared his own story about his diagnosis and how he received a kidney transplant from a cousin. AAKP President Roberta Wager, RN, MSN, also spoke to those in attendance about the importance of getting tested for kidney disease.
