African-American Men Least Likely to Control Blood Pressure

According to a new study, African-American men are least likely to have their blood pressure under control among people diagnosed with hypertensive kidney disease. Research also shows African-American men with chronic kidney disease (CKD)  are more likely to develop kidney failure, and tend to progress more quickly than other groups.

These findings suggest treating hypertension more aggressively may protect their kidneys.

This study is published in the National Kidney Foundation's American Journal of Kidney Diseases.
