The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released its annual report on the performance of end-stage renal disease (ESRD) care for in-center hemodialysis patients and peritoneal dialysis patients. The report is part of an onging project to improve healthcare for these patients.
According to CMS' report, one of the biggest opportunities for better care for hemodialysis patients is to improve their serum albumin levels. A total of about 66 percent of patients did not have a mean serum albumin >=4.0/3.7 g/dL.
