AAKP is proud to announce the winners of the AAKP Says I Can! campiagn. AAKP Says I Can! aims to increase kidney disease awareness and show kidney patients of all modalities live active, productive lives despite their diagnosis.
The three winners selected are:
- Wilfred T. Dow, a 78 year-old hemodialysis patient who rode his bike more than 600 miles from Waterloo, WI to Bay City, MI.
- Mary Sheppard, a peritoneal dialysis (PD) patient, a loving wife and mother who earned a college degree and became a long distance runner after her kidney disease diagnosis.
AAKP Says I Can! winners are featured on posters in dialysis units, transplant centers and doctors' offices across the country. They also receive a free 2008 AAKP Convention registration and complimentary lodging at the official Convention hotel, Grand Hyatt Washington, in Washington, D.C.
