March is National Kidney Disease Awareness Month. With over 300,000 Americans on some type of renal replacement therapy, more than 100,000 Americans estimated to start dialysis this year and 20 million Americans with reduced kidney function, the need to educate the general public about kidney disease and its impact is significant. By 2010 it is estimated the number of dialysis patients will reach 650,000. It only seems appropriate, that during this month we focus on the importance of healthy education. In recognition of March is Kidney Disease Awareness Month, AAKP has several new programs and expansion of existing programs occurring.
