Twenty - one years ago, my father donated one of his kidneys to me. As anyone can imagine, it was a life altering experience that in part made me who I am today. Because of his generous gift, I always strive to make a difference. I am fortunate to be involved with an organization that allows me to positively impact the lives of countless individuals each and every day. When I made the decision to become a Life Member of AAKP, I did it not only because I wanted to be a part of ensuring AAKP's future strength, but as a tribute to my father's continual unconditional love and generosity.

Recently, at the AAKP Life Member Reception held during the Annual Convention, Eli Friedman, MD, AAKP’s Medical Advisory Board Chair asked a table of fellow Life Members if they would be willing to purchase a Life Membership for a loved one, colleague or friend. The answer around the table was a resounding "yes!" One Life Member explained that it would be a lovely way to demonstrate to her friend how important AAKP is to her and the one million patients we serve.

Dr. Friedman himself has stated, "Becoming an AAKP Life Member solidifies the bonding process between those who regard improving the lot of kidney patients as a vital objective and the organization most likely to effect this goal. A sense of pride and participation in a most worthy cause is the happy reward that I derived from enrolling as a Life Member. I urge all who are able to take this step." Besides the benefits you receive when you join AAKP as a Life Member, you will be making a significant difference in the future of AAKP. Our Life Membership funds are set aside for future growth, enabling AAKP to provided needed information to those afflicted with kidney disease. You can become a Life Member for a one time gift of $1,000 or by contributing four times over two years with gifts of $250. Either way, your participation impacts patients and family members.

I will be joining Dr. Friedman in giving a loved one an AAKP Life Membership because I believe so strongly in our mission and goals. Each one of us can make a difference in future AAKP patient programs. Won’t you join me in honoring someone who has made a difference in your life?
