During the 2009 AAKP Annual Convention in Denver, Colo., AAKP recognized two AAKP pioneers - former Executive Director Kris Robinson and former AAKP Board of Directors' President Joe White. Both made extraordinary contributions to the Association. Kris served AAKP for more than 18 years – expanding AAKP’s reach in the kidney community, fostering relationships inside and out side the kidney community, and creating new educational opportunities for patients and family members.
Joe White was affiliated with AAKP for nearly 25 years. He served as the President of a local AAKP Chapter in New Jersey, Vice President of the Board of the Directors and then President for six years. Under Joe’s leadership, the AAKP Patient Plan series was developed. Thousands of patients and health care professionals use it today. Joe was a strong believer that an educated patient was essential to one’s health and he lived his life in that manner. AAKP dedicated the 2009 Convention to the memory of both Kris and Joe.
