The American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP) is seeking individuals to serve on its Speakers Bureau for its upcoming 2007 Annual Convention as well as its Kidney Beginnings: Live educational seminars. Ideal candidates are:

• patients who are interested in sharing their experiences with kidney disease (end-stage renal disease or chronic kidney disease);
• family members/caregivers who are interested in sharing their experiences related to having a loved one with kidney disease; and
• healthcare professionals who are interested in using their knowledge and expertise to help educate patients.

Speaking Requirements
Speaking engagements are based upon an individual's qualifications.

• Speakers* who are patients or caregivers/family members participate in panel discussions allowing the opportunity to share personal experiences.
• Healthcare professionals are evaluated for speaking engagements based on their expertise.

Individuals who apply may not be selected immediately to participate on a specific panel, however, applications are kept on file for potential future use. *Applying to serve on the AAKP Speakers Bureau does not automatically guarantee selection as a speaker.

Expense Reimbursements
AAKP reimburses Annual Convention presenters for expenses relating to the fulfillment of their responsibilities, including travel and hotel (if required). Geographic location of speaker may play a role in selection for speaking engagements. Presenters are asked to declare actual or potential conflict of interests in relation to the selected presentation.

If you are interested in being considered as a participant on the AAKP Speakers Bureau for the 2007 Annual Convention and/or Kidney Beginnings: Live, please complete the Speakers Bureau Profile Form and return it to AAKP no later than February 26, 2007.

You will receive notification that your application is received by March 9, 2007. If you meet the eligibility requirements, an AAKP staff member will contact you to discuss future speaking opportunities.
