2008 Award Recipient

Dr. IngThe American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP) is pleased to announce the selection of Todd Ing, MD as its 2008 Medal of Excellence Award recipient.

The Medal of Excellence is an AAKP recognition program that honors a renal physician who has achieved outstanding success in caring for kidney disease patients, while also possessing extraordinary skills and devotion in the field of nephrology. This year, it is with great pleasure that we bestow this honor to Dr. Ing.

Dr. Ing is currently courtesy staff physician in the Department of Medicine at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Hines, IL as well as Professor Emeritus of Medicine at Loyola University Chicago, Stritch School of Medicine. He is also a key member of the renal community both nationally and internationally with his current and prior appointments to the editorial boards for Kidney, Hong Kong Journal of Nephrology, Hemodialysis International and Peritoneal Dialysis International.

Dr. Ing is most highly noted for his outstanding patient care and support. He has unselfishly provided renal care to veterans for more than 25 years and his enthusiasm for patients has been disseminated by his bedside teaching, publication of articles and books and his organization of educational seminars for patients and healthcare professionals alike.

Dr. Ing has authored more than 250 publications in the area of dialysis with emphasis on isolated ultrafiltration, complications of dialysis, dialysate composition and peritoneal dialysis. He is also co-editor of the Handbook of Dialysis which has been translated into nine different languages and is widely used around the world. AAKP is both proud and pleased to present the Medal of Excellence Award to such a fine nephrologist.

AAKP will honor Dr. Ing and the 2008 nominees at the award ceremony during Renal Physicians Association’s Annual Meeting. Please join us in sharing this special evening of recognition as we bestow this honor on behalf of the entire renal community.
